It can be either a freshwater or a saltwater fish. It comes from the Northern hemisphere´s cold waters.

Many go up from the sea to the rivers for spawning and then, once the babies become adults, go back again down the undercurrents. Its meat is highly appreciated because of its texture and delicious taste.
